Mayim bialik leaving jeopardy fired statement season

Mayim Bialik announced her departure from the American game program Jeopardy! on Friday (15 December) via social media.

“Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!” wrote the Big Bang Theory actor, whose tenure as a presenter earned her an Emmy nomination this year.




“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family,” she said in a statement. “For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey, and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff, and crew of America’s Favourite Quiz Show, thank you.”

Following Bialik’s resignation, Sony revealed that past program champion Ken Jennings will be the next solo host.




In a press release, the show’s producers stated: “We made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy!”We sincerely appreciate Mayim’s efforts to Jeopardy! and hope to continue working with her on primetime specials.”

Bialik and Jennings were among the guest hosts who took over after Alex Trebek died of illness in 2020.




Despite the fact that the stints were viewed as auditions, the post was unexpectedly given to then-executive producer Mike Richards.

However, nine days later, the American host left the show due to anger over unearthed misogynistic statements he made on a podcast.
Since Richards’ departure, Bialik and Jennings have alternated hosting Jeopardy!, but Bialik was the sole host of its offshoot show, Celebrity Jeopardy!, for the first season.




In a statement released in July 2022, the show’s executive producer Michael Davies confirmed Bialik and Jennings would split hosting duties, saying, “In Mayim and Ken, we have two outstanding hosts at the beginning of their Jeopardy! hosting careers who connect with their own unique fanbases, new fans, and the traditional Jeopardy! viewer.”
During an episode of her podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, Bialik discussed some of the fan criticism she has gotten since taking over as host of the long-running American game show.




Prior to her employment being made permanent, the actor stated that fans frequently made comparisons between her and Jennings, with some expressing fondness for the 2004 champion.

“Sometimes I get, ‘We don’t prefer you to Ken,'” Bialik explained to co-star Justin Long.




“[People will tell you] exactly how they feel,” Bialik said, adding that another common comment she receives is, “I saw you in a magazine.” I was completely perplexed. ‘You looked lovely.’ I hear that a lot.'”
