Randy Travis, together with his wife Mary and Josh Turner son Hampton, joined the singer on stage for this important event. All three of them joined the singer.
A standard performance that featured only Josh Turner characteristic baritone voice would have been much less memorable than the recent appearance that Josh Turner made at the Grand Ole Opry, which turned out to be something truly remarkable. Additionally, Randy Travis, a legendary figure in the world of country music, joined the singer-songwriter on Tuesday, June 6. Travis astonished the singer-songwriter by informing him that he had received two additional RIAA certifications.
While Josh Turner was still performing, Travis, his wife Mary, and Hampton, Josh Turner son, all made their way onto the stage to give him a plaque for his hit song “Your Man,” which the RIAA has certified as four times platinum. Additionally, the album “Your Man,” which has been certified three times platinum by the RIAA, was also presented to him.
A selfie was taken backstage with Josh Turner, his lifelong friend and mentor, as they celebrated Turner’s achievements with “Your Man.” Josh Turner posted the shot on his Instagram account.
Turner had only begun to establish a name for himself in the industry when the song “Your Man” was initially released and quickly climbed to the top of the charts that were being played. As a result of this song, people started to see him as more than simply a gospel performer, and he got even more immersed in the music scene as a genuine country artist who has interesting stories to tell.
When it got to the point where it was time to release another single, we had already been going through the process of dealing with the situation in which a lot of people had attempted to categorize me as a specific kind of artist based on the song ‘Long Black Train.’ As a result, we were aware that we needed to find a way to break free of that,” Turner explained. ”
Once I had finished recording ‘Your Man,’ we were aware that it was the song that was going to assist us in moving in a different direction and demonstrating to fans, radio, and industry professionals that, ‘Hey, you know, I’m not just this one-dimensional type of artist.'” It is possible for me to do something entirely different. After that, we kind of went in the opposite direction from what we had been doing with ‘Long Black Train.'”
According to him, “That really kind of helped establish me as a credible artist in my mind because, as I say, there were so many people who just thought, ‘oh, well, you know, he’s the ‘Long Black Train’ guy, he’s the gospel type, you know, whatever.'” He went on to speak more. The song “Your Man” was the one that helped me break out of that, and it went on to become my first number one single. As a result, it is clear that we made the right decision.
Immediately following the success of the South Carolina native’s single “Long Black Train,” which was released in 2003 and served as the title track to his debut album, both of which have also been certified platinum by the RIAA, this song was published. Turner just released the full-length project on vinyl for the very first time in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of both the song and the album.
To tell you the truth, I was quite fortunate to earn decent scores and pass all of my classes at that point in time. In addition, I was recovering from a vocal injury at the time, and as a result, it was a relatively carefree period in my life during which I had no idea how to write songs that would be released on a record because I had never been signed to a record label. Josh Turner noted that a time in his life when he was unsure of what lay ahead for him served as the inspiration for the song “Long Black Train.”
If I hadn’t heard that music, I never would have imagined the opportunities that it would present to me in the future. Since I am thinking that nobody is ever going to be interested in hearing this, even at the same moment that I have finished writing it, I am thinking that. I can’t believe how out-of-date this is. But you know, it has a lot of those timeless aspects, and it has a very strong and obvious message. If I had to guess, I would say that it is something that people relate to, and they continue to relate to it.
Dothan, Alabama, served as the starting point for Josh Turner Long Black Train 20th Anniversary Tour, which began on March 4 and is currently in the midst of its journey. The journey will continue across the United States until it reaches its conclusion on September 23 in Columbus, Minnesota.
On June 11, he also gave a performance at Nissan Stadium as part of the Country Music Festival. During the summer, the singer-songwriter will make his triumphant return to the United Kingdom, where he successfully launched his first tour in 2019.
