Everything You Need to Know About Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Concert Film

Listen, I’m a Swiftie fanatic. I’ve analysed her infinite Easter eggs, put Taylor at the top of my Spotify Wrapped for years, and you can guarantee I went to the Eras Tour this summer. The performance was one of the most memorable events of my life; I manufactured and shared friendship bracelets with other Swifties and sung every word to every song.

I even saw the Eras Tour concert DVD and thoroughly enjoyed reliving every moment of the spectacular. Swift’s highly anticipated concert film debuted in theatres earlier this fall and broke box office records. According to CNBC, it is the highest-earning domestic concert film ever, grossing between $95 million and $97 million. Swift just revealed that the Eras Tour will be coming to living rooms, as the film is now available for rent on a variety of on-demand sites.

So, if you were snubbed by Ticketmaster or simply want to recreate the magic that was the Eras Tour, I’ve got you covered with all the vital facts you’ll need to know before going.

Swift’s stadium tour spanned more than a dozen US locations as well as Mexico City this summer. The Eras Tour is a love letter to her illustrious musical career and the fans who have supported her along the way. But it doesn’t mean the tour isn’t popular with the general public.

The tour, which includes Swift’s worldwide tour next spring, is expected to gross $1 billion. That billion dollars is a terrific measure of Swift’s influence, but it doesn’t even account for the thousands of fans who attended her concerts this year from parking lots and bridges outside of the event sites. Swift’s voyage around the United States has already proven to be a financial windfall to host communities. So, what exactly is the concert film Taylor Swift:

The Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is a two-hour, 45-minute documentary that was shot during her Los Angeles gigs at the SoFi stadium. This begs the question of what was deleted from the film for those who are familiar with the tour. The concert I went lasted around three hours, but by the end of the tour, it had stretched to almost three and a half hours. Curious admirers, on the other hand, have finally received their answers. The film premiered on October 11, and we now know what was eliminated. Be warned: I’m about to provide some huge spoilers for the concert film, so if you want to be shocked while watching, skip this section.

Swift appears to have cut five songs from the lineup she performed the evenings she taped the film. According to Entertainment Weekly, the songs No Body, No Crime, Long Live, Wildest Dreams, The Archer, and Cardigan were all removed from the performance film. Long Live fans, on the other hand, have some compensation. During the credits, the song plays over tour bloopers and fan videos.

The songs Our Song and You’re On Your Own, as well as Kid, were among the six surprise tracks she recorded (Swift performs them during the rotating acoustic segment of the show). Fans can also look forwards to shortened outfit changes and transitions between Swift’s many eras in the film. How long will the concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour be in theatres?

Swift’s concert film was released in theatres globally on October 13. According to Insider, the film was required to be exhibited in theatres for four weeks after its initial release. According to an insider, Swift bypassed Hollywood studios and arranged the film’s distribution directly with AMC, giving her more control. According to Time, Swift’s concert film grossed an incredible $248.9 million at the box office, making it the biggest grossing concert film in the United States. Given this achievement, it’s reasonable to presume the concert film will be shown in theatres for quite some time. How do I obtain Swift movie tickets?

Tickets for the concert film can be purchased in the same way as you would for most movies, either online or at a local box office.

Swift’s website has connections to websites where you may get tickets from AMC, Regal, Cinemark, and Fandango. You might also check the website of your local indie theatre to see if it is screening the concert film.

The fan reaction to ticket sales was, shall we say, immediate. Cinemark’s chief marketing and content officer, Wanda Gierhart Fearing, told me that the company experienced “frenzied traffic to [its] website and app the moment tickets went on sale” and that “we are ready for Swifties to be enchanted by this concert film in the unprecedented number of auditoriums we have booked to meet demand.”

How much are the tickets?
Adult tickets are $19.89, a reference to Swift’s birth year and the title of her fifth studio album, 1989. (Fans are also aware that the album 1989 is soon to undergo the Taylor’s Version treatment, with the artist’s rerecording of the album set to be released 14 days after the film opens in theatres.) Tickets for seniors and children are $13.13, an homage to Swift’s lucky number.

Given the special pricing, it’s unclear whether users of Regal Unlimited paid theatre subscriptions will be able to access the deals available on tickets for this film. According to a FAQ on AMC’s website, this film is not available for reservation through the company’s A-List programme.

Cinemark verified to CNET that Cinemark Movie Club members can take advantage of all normal membership privileges. Can I treat this as if it were a regular concert?
While a concert film can be exhilarating and nearly feel like a genuine concert, it’s best to be considerate of other theatregoers, both during your showing and during other showings at the theatre.

This doesn’t mean you can’t participate in other Eras Tour traditions, such as dressing up in a colourful costume inspired by Swift’s songs and lyrics or crafting and trading friendship bracelets with other Swifties. You could even discreetly sing along and dance in your seat… as long as you’re respectful to other viewers and don’t disrupt their viewing experience.

If you’re going to see the movie at an AMC theatre, you’re in luck. The corporation has given you guidelines for how to act during the film, and they all boil down to being respectful of those around you.

I saw the concert film in an independent theatre, and the audience was relatively quiet throughout. There was no song loud enough to be heard, and the only people dancing in my theatre were a few tiny children. Based on my experience, I would advise going in with the expectation of seeing this film as you would any other.

However, if you simply must sing and dance along to all of your favourite Taylor Swift songs (which I completely understand), you do have some options. Cinemark unveiled Private Swiftie Parties, an extension of its Private Watch Parties product, in a press release given to CNET, which allow fans to hire a whole auditorium for singing and dancing.

According to the press release, “our larger-than-life screens and captivating surround sound deliver a most enchanting environment to sing and dance along with friends and family to the concert of the decade.” These Private Swiftie Parties are currently available for purchase on Cinemark’s website and app. The watch parties cost $800 and can accommodate up to 40 fans at participating sites.

How can I view the concert video at home?
Swift revealed this week that the expanded version of the Eras Tour concert film will be available for rent on Apple TV, Vudu, Prime Video, Xfinity, Google Play, and YouTube on December 13 (the singer’s birthday). The extended version will have some extra content, including previously cut songs Wildest Dreams, The Archer, and Long Live. There is no official word on pricing yet, but we will update this story whenever pricing is available.

There is no set date for when the concert film will be available on streaming services. According to TV Line, Swift will be unable to put her concert film on streaming services for 13 weeks after it is released. As a result, the picture could be available on a streaming service as early as January 12, 2024.

As a seasoned Swiftie, my advice would be to keep a look out for any hints Swift may provide about a streaming release date in the coming months. Her well-known Easter eggs have provided fans with information on album release dates and music video releases, so it’s probable she’ll use one to indicate the film’s streaming debut.
