Dodgers Julio Urias Lined Up To Opening Day Starter

During the first day of the season, Julio Urías is scheduled to pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and his colleague Clayton Kershaw is very content with this decision.

There has been no announcement made by Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts regarding the starting pitcher for the game versus Arizona on March 30. However, Roberts disclosed to reporters on Tuesday that Urías will be pitching on Friday in a Cactus League game against Milwaukee.

This announcement comes as Urías is returning to Dodgers camp after playing in the World Baseball Classic with Mexico.

As a result, the left-handed pitcher would be given regular rest for the first game of the season, which would be played at Dodger Stadium against the Diamondbacks. Kershaw would be able to play in the second game of the season.

Kershaw, who has not only won the National League Cy Young Award three times, has also set a franchise record by starting nine games on opening day for the Dodgers (2011-18, 2021). For the first game of the previous season, Walker Buehler began for Colorado.

According to what Kershaw stated on Tuesday, “I’m excited for Julio to get to do it.” I’m going to assume that Julio is going to be the one to do it. It is all due to him. It is a unique opportunity to be able to carry it out. I believe that the person who pitched the best the year before should be the one to receive it, and he did that.

Urías, who is 26 years old, achieved a record of 17-7 with a 2.16 earned run average (ERA) in 31 starts during the previous season. He also finished third in the voting for the National League Cy Young Award. The previous year, he had a record of 20-3 with a 2.96 earned run average.

Kershaw, who turned 35 on Sunday, has been selected to the All-Star team nine times and has won five ERA crowns. In recent years, however, he has experienced a number of ailments that have slowed him down. During the previous season, the left-handed pitcher made 22 starts and pitched 126 and a third innings, accumulating a record of 12-3 with a 2.28 earned run average.

As part of the spring training game against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday, Kershaw pitched for a total of five innings. Two runs were allowed on four hits, and he did not walk anybody while striking out two batters.

“The last inning was his best inning of the spring,” Roberts said. “It was his best performance of the spring’s season.”

The National League Most Valuable Player for 2014 has a record of 197-87 with a 2.48 earned run average in 15 seasons in the major leagues.

I would not have returned if I had not been enthusiastic about the opportunity to play. I am very enthusiastic about our team. It’s exciting to think that we have a chance to win,” Kershaw remarked. A day like opening day at Dodger Stadium is something that you simply cannot take for granted
