Diana Gabaldon, the creator of Outlander, expresses ‘worry’ about the Jamie Fraser plot in the midseason finale.

Following a tumultuous midseason finale in which the protagonist of the program was placed in a precarious circumstance, the massive series Outlander, which airs on Starz, has decided to take a break.
The drought is having a significant impact on fans, and many of them are yearning for some kind of respite.
Thankfully, Starz has an official podcast that provides fans with snippets from the most recent series. These snippets provide viewers with some insightful behind-the-scenes information regarding the production of the show.

One of the episodes had Outlander’s supervisor, Matthew B. Roberts, discussing the concerns that he and the rest of the team had with the midseason finale, notably Jamie Fraser’s (played by Sam Heughan) hand injury. It was revealed that the team was concerned about the outcome of the episode.

During the second Battle of Saratoga, Jamie, a character in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, had so severe injuries that he ultimately had to have a finger amputated.

On the other hand, in the program, Jamie’s finger was saved by his medic wife Claire Fraser, played by Caitríona Balfe, because of her expertise in medicine during the 20th century.

The following is what Roberts had to say regarding the event that occurred in the television series: “We knew we were going to have some issues with the hand.”

The injury described in the book is quite severe, and we were aware that we did not have much runway to allow for the ideal healing process to take place.

In the episode, we were required to skip ahead in time, so that was a constant worry for us.

“We had a lot of meetings about the hand, what it was going to look like initially and going forward the healing process, the scars, and everything else,” the speaker continued.

After that, Roberts continued by saying, “It never ceases to amaze me, regardless of what it is that I find puzzling, that we always manage to pull it off.”

“We have a rule in the room that says, ‘Don’t break the dream,’ and the dream is when you start the episode and you get to the end, and hopefully there are no breaks in the dream, or else you say something like, ‘Hold on, what’s going on?'”

“Without a doubt, there will always be readers of the book who are familiar with the narrative and will inquire, “Why wasn’t this scenario included in the book? Or is that not how it occurs in the book?”

“That, of course, is something that you will never be able to argue with since that is foreknowledge.

Given that this is a television series, it is possible that someone is aware of anything that might or might not be included in this particular story.

When it comes to a person who is unfamiliar with the narrative, however, you want them to be able to effortlessly turn it on and continue watching it until the very end.

In addition, Roberts explained that the hand, along with other story lines, had to be interpreted in the context of the television show rather than the books because of the limited amount of time available.

The showrunner for Outlander stated that there was “great logic in continuity,” and all of this contributed to the veracity of the story that they were attempting to depict.

In addition, Roberts emphasized that Outlander was a “fictional show” that had both fictional characters and historical people that were based on real-life events in its plot.
